RELEASING FORGIVENESS AND REPENTING FOR JUDGEMENTS
STEP 1. Identify the wound.
For Healing: Forgive the persons / thing / event.
SAMPLE PRAYER OF FORGIVENESS:
Lord, I am aware that I have been holding [person] responsible for wounding me by [reason]. I confess that I have had a debt against them in my heart and been holding them to account for the pain. Today, I choose to release them. I know that in doing this, I am not saying what they did (or didn’t do) was right or OK. I am simply modeling you and setting myself free from being tied to the debt I created. Jesus, I confess that I need your help to accomplish this forgiveness fully – so today I release them to you.
PRAYER MINISTER MAY PRAY:
Jesus would you come to the depths of ___________’s heart and begin to minister to it. We ask that You give them the strength they need to release and forgive others. We ask You to bring healing to all barren and wounded places in their heart and life. (Pray more healing prayers if you feel led)
STEP 2. Identify the sinful response in bitter judgement / accusation / ungodly label.
For Healing: Confess and repent for judging the other.
SAMPLE PRAYER FOR REPENTANCE OF JUDGEMENTS:
Lord, I recognise today that in order to protect my heart, I made judgements against [ person]. I realise that I had no right to judge, accuse or condemn them. So today Lord, I repent for judging [person] as being [how you judged them]. I see that these judgements have hindered the way I have viewed and treated them. Instead Lord, I want to see them through your eyes and have the opportunity to love and bless them. (Sometimes you might ask Jesus for the way He sees them)
PRAYER MINISTER SHOULD PRAY:
Lord, according to _(person)______’s repentance, we take up authority in Christ and bring to effective death all these judgements upon Your cross. We thank you that as we do, all the reaping of all that was sown will no longer have a place in their heart and life.
Instead, we thank you that Your resurrection life can now begin to flow in these areas of their life. We bless them and ask that You help them to build Godly expectations of life and others. We ask you teach them how to draw LIFE, love and peace from You and others instead death, bitterness and chaos, in Jesus name.
STEP 3. Identify and Renounce Inner Vows.
SAMPLE PRAYER FOR RENOUNCING OF VOWS:
Lord, I recognise today that in order to protect my heart, I have made vows, oaths and promises. There are many that I have that I don’t know of, and You know of these, but today I thank you that You have revealed an area of my heart and that has been bound.. Lord I confess today that I have made the vow that ___________________________ . I know that the words of my mouth and belief of my heart have the ability to shift and bring change to the atmosphere of my life and even my eternal destiny. I recognise that you have given me the free will choice to make or break these vows, oaths and agreements – so it is by the authority and dominion you’ve given me that I renounce the vow and come out of agreement with the lie that _____(same as before)_________. I thank You God that heaven and earth bear witness to this today.
PRAYER MINISTER SHOULD PRAY:
Lord, according to _(person)______’s confession and decision today we ask that you would shatter and scatter the effects and power of this vow over their life, scattering it as far as the east is from the west. And in Jesus name,_(person)______’ I command your spirit, soul and body to forget this vow and no longer come under the influence of it’s power and attachments. [At this point too you can invite the renouncer to ask the Lord if He wants them to know any truth or show them something]
Optional extra prayer for person renouncing vows: (This is selective summary of St Patrick’s Breastplate written 433AD)
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
I arise today, through
God’s strength to pilot me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and near.
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
