When Extraordinary things happen. A case study: Susan Boyle

If you haven’t seen or heard of Susan Boyle yet… well… you’ve obviously not logged into your facebook account or watched TV or read the newspapers.

Brittains Got Talent is a talent show that, last week, got it’s largest surprise ever. You have to watch this video to know what I mean. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY

The amazing thing is that the video was uploaded to Youtube on the 11th April and today (18th Apr) it has been viewed over 21 million times.

By the time you view it, I’m sure there will be a few million more.

This is power of the internet today. This is the speed at which news, media and events go viral – a term that explains the nature of media sharing and spreading over the internet today.

A lesson learnt though, if you want to be noticed online, you need to be EXTRA- ORDINARY… whether you’re an artist, individual or business.

I might also add that, just like blogging, content is king. Susan proved this and is testament to the age of transparency and novelty we live in.
